SIDN is honored to be the host of the 78th IETF meeting. Maastricht, the location where the IETF will take place, is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the Netherlands. The history of Maastricht goes back to the Romans, who founded Maastricht during the first century AD. Walking around the city today, you can still find many reminders of those times. This historical city on the river Maas, founded by a people renowned for their advanced technologies, offers a fitting albeit contrasting, background for this meeting. But Maastricht also offers great restaurants and fine shops in a relaxing atmosphere. Furthermore it has a history of hosting important international encounters, like the Maastricht Treaty on the European Union.
